There are several ways to travel comfortably to and around Sweden. Here are different means of transport for arrival and travel in Sweden. Depending on the route, the plans in Sweden and the type of traveller, different means of travel and routes can be the best choice.
Which means of travel for traveling to and in Sweden?
With the mobile home / caravan
The mobile home is probably the most relaxed way to travel, especially with children and animals. The toilet is always with you. There is a table and enough space for games, food and other entertainment. You can interrupt the journey at any time and spend the night at any rest stop or other place if necessary. A disadvantage can be the increased consumption and the usually slower speed. With larger vehicles you are also much less flexible if you would like to stand somewhere "wild". When traveling during the season, you should be aware that the well-known "wild" places are often occupied and the campsites are also well frequented. It is therefore advisable to reserve appropriate places in advance. All in all, larger mobile homes are widespread in Sweden and the infrastructure is therefore well designed. The space available in supermarkets etc. is often reminiscent of American conditions.
Various providers also offer the possibility of renting a mobile home in Sweden.
Here on Risebo there is a large meadow surrounded by nature as a parking space for you and your motorhome. Some pitches are equipped with 230V/10A power connections. Wireless internet is also available on the campsite.
By bus / compact motorhome
Smaller motorhomes in the form of buses represent a good compromise to the large mobile home. You are flexible, you can get through practically all roads and you can also stand "wild". In addition, the consumption is usually lower and the cruising speed higher. The costs for the ferries are also lower. The spaces for vehicles with larger dimensions on the ferries are also limited and sometimes fully booked. In wintry conditions, all-wheel drive buses are a good choice. All these advantages make the bus as a motorhome the perfect choice for traveling to and through Sweden.

And if you should ever get too cramped on the bus, treat yourself to a night in one of the "Stuga" with a kitchen and a warm shower.
By car
In Sweden there are holiday homes, so-called "Stuga" that can be rented everywhere. As a traveler with a car, you will find accommodation everywhere surrounded by beautiful nature. Since the Stuga usually have to be booked in advance, the trip has to be planned better than when traveling with a motorhome. But if you like to drive to one or two places and visit attractions from there or just want to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet, then the car is the best way to go. In addition, the costs for the ferries are low and there are almost always spaces available on the ferries for cars. These are also the reasons why many vacationers prefer the car as a means of travel. In wintry conditions anyway. Cars with roof tents are also often seen.
Here on Risebo you can stay comfortably in one of the holiday homes (“Stuga”), which are available in different sizes. Or you can make yourself comfortable with the tent / roof tent on the camping meadow.
By public transport (bus and train)
Trains travel to Sweden via Denmark via the Öhresund Bridge. We recommend various night trains, for example from Switzerland, Germany and other places to Sweden. From there you can continue with regional trains and buses. For travelers who want to explore Sweden by bike, the train is a perfect choice. Please note, however, that access by public transport is limited, especially in remote, rural areas such as here at Risebo. Please contact us if you plan to travel by public transport. One possibility is to drive to Överum. We can pick you up from there after consultation.
By bicycle
There are many beautiful cycling routes in Sweden. But be aware that the "normal" Swedish road does not have a hard shoulder or a separate cycle path. Due to the low traffic density in rural areas, this shouldn't be a reason not to explore Sweden by bike. On the contrary – there are many people who travel around Sweden by bike and time.

Which route to Sweden?
Many roads lead to Rome. There are a few to Sweden, but due to the location on a peninsula, the paths are limited.
By ferry from Germany, Denmark or Poland
Various shipping companies offer ferry connections from Germany (Travemünde and Rostock). These are eg TT-Line, StenaLine and finnlines. The ferries usually dock in Trelleborg. A night ferry is recommended for arrivals from further south. The approach can be easily mastered in two stages. You dock in Sweden in the morning, feeling somewhat relaxed, and you still manage the rest of the journey.
An exciting alternative is the fast ferry from FRS Baltic from Sassnitz (Rügen). The ferry makes the crossing to Trelleborg in an unbelievable 2 hours and 15 minutes and is worth an experience just because of the speed. The ferry has a limited capacity in terms of the number and dimensions of the vehicles. Early booking is therefore strongly recommended.
There are other ferry connections to Sweden from Denmark Scandlines as well as StenaLine and from Poland from TT-Line, StenaLine, UnityLine as well as Pole Ferries.
Overland via Denmark
By car you can choose the route via Denmark. If you don't like ferries, this is a possible route. However, please be aware that there is also a short ferry crossing when driving through Denmark. The drive through Denmark is very long. A toll is charged for crossing the Oresund Bridge. All in all, it is not really cheaper to travel than by ferry.
The train also crosses the Oresund Bridge.
By air by plane
Various flight connections are available, for example to Stockholm or, for example, from Frankfurt to Kalmar. From there you can continue by train, bus, rental car or bicycle.
